i have some hippy friends (i may be slightly hippified) who say to me things like "i knew him in a past life" and i always say "could be, you're supposed to figure out how bad he/she is for you in this one or even have the sense not to date him/her". (or get involved with this person in any way.)

One woman, i did a past life regression hypnosis, and turned out her abusive partner was her actual owner in a past life. Finding out where his attitudes came from, and where her weird submission came from too - was for her a turning point. She suddenly stopped acting like a doormat. He caved like most bullies do, and she realised she wasn't in love with this man, it was just a toxic connection.

"The familiarity of abuse" is another way of putting that feeling that my (messed up) friends ascribe to past life familiarity. Good post. :)
